Attendance Policy
Our Attendance Policy Members must attend a minimum of 75% attendance of all scheduled rehearsals for concert participation. This means no more than 4 rehearsals can be missed January 16-May 5, 2024 (and multiple mandatory dress rehearsals must be attended) for concert participation.
We understand that sometimes life happens and you may need to miss a rehearsal. If you need to miss a rehearsal, please let us know if you are able. You do not need to state the reason you are missing (as that is your personal business).
Attendance at all rehearsals is very important. Choir Members are expected to attend rehearsals weekly, Tuesday evenings 7:00-9:00 pm. Choir members must sign the attendance chart each week.
If you are sick - STAY HOME. If you are quarantined - STAY HOME.
Mask Policy: Although we do not require masks for rehearsals/concerts, we support anyone who chooses to wear one. Our guidelines may change as community health concerns arise. You will be notified of any updates as soon as possible.
Allergies: Perfume, cologne, scented powder, etc. will bring on asthma attacks in a number of our members. Please do not apply these prior to rehearsals or concerts.
Personal Practice Time: You are highly encouraged to spend a little time each week practicing at home; whether at a keyboard and/or with videos or vocal tracks that we supply. Do not rely on Tuesday evening rehearsals only.

Need to Drop Out?
Sometimes life happens: our schedules change, work or family commitments change, or health issues happen. There are many things that we can't control and our plans to sing with Adirondack Voices have to change.
If you signed up to sing with us for the current season and have to drop out for any reason, we respectfully ask you to do so in the following manner:
IN-PERSON REHEARSAL:
YOU need to return your music to the librarians. This is your responsibility, please do not ask another member to do so for you unless it is an emergency situation. The librarians and treasurer arrive by 6:45 pm to the rehearsal hall so you could drop your music off quickly before rehearsal starts.
YOU need to talk with the Treasurer (or librarian if the treasurer is unavailable) about your music deposit (after you have returned your music). Do you want to use that as a tax-deductible donation to the group or would you like your check/cash back? The librarians and treasurer arrive by 6:45 pm to the rehearsal hall so you can discuss your deposit. NOTE: If you turn in your music and fail to communicate with the treasurer about your music deposit by the concert date, it will be considered a donation (not refunded).
Please let the President or one of the librarians know that you need to leave the group. This is so we can make note of it and not bother you with emails about rehearsals and the upcoming performance. (You will still remain on our main contact list and get the big updates.)
You do not need to tell anyone why you are dropping out: your personal reasons are your own. We do not ask you to give a reason: we understand that life happens and hope that you will consider singing with us next season.
REHEARSAL CANCELLATIONS
Rehearsals are rarely cancelled. If we cancel, you will make that determination no later than 5:30 pm.
We will send notification to the email address you provided for your registration at 5:30 pm.
We will post any cancellations on our Face Book page, Instagram and here on our webpage.
Members > If you don’t like to drive in bad weather, you may want to save your absences for these situations.
Members > if you know of someone in our group that does not have internet access, please make sure you have a phone number that you can contact them at to share this information in case of a rehearsal cancellation.
How do I practice at home?
You are highly encouraged to spend a little time each week practicing at home. Do not rely solely on Tuesday evening rehearsals. Rehearsal Tracks are listed on our website.
Practice the songs that we worked on this past week; paying attention to anything specifically stated by the Director.
Learn it correctly - don't guess.
If you have a piano/keyboard at home, plunk out your notes until they are very comfortable. Learn it correctly - don't guess.
Make sure you a performing not only the notes, but the rhythms accurately. It helps to speak the rhythms. Use a metronome if you need something to help keep the steady beat.
Be comfortable with the text. Read it over. Look at it in context. Say it in rhythm.
If you are really interested, check out the composer, the history of the song, or the time period in which it was composed.
We may provide links to check other group performances of our song selection (if they are available) . It often helps to understand how your part fits in with everyone else.
