Logistics for Mozart Rehearsal & Concert

WHERE DO I PARK?

Glens Falls High School Band Room (10 Quade Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801)

Parking:  If you require closer or handicap access to Door A, you may park on Quade St.

If you are able to walk a small distance, please use the Middle School parking lot (Quade Street)  or High School parking (Sherman Ave) and walk around to Door A.

HOW DO I GET IN THE BUILDING AND WHERE DO I GO?

Enter the building through the door marked “A” (on Quade Street)

Once you are in the building, turn right into the hallway headed toward the auditorium. Take your first right (before the auditorium) and proceed down the hallway past the main office to reach the Band Room.  I will post a few signs to lead the way.

DOOR A will be locked for the day once the rehearsal begins. This includes the lunch break.   If you need to go out for lunch or to your car, you will have to make arrangements to text a friend to have them let you in at Door A when you return.  If you arrive late, you may be locked out of the building.  I will not have my phone to answer texts to let you in. Please plan accordingly.

Note: The guidelines for parking and the entrance to the high school may be different than what you experienced in the past when we had collaborated with the symphony, but we MUST follow the CURRENT school guidelines.

You may NOT OPEN ANY OTHER DOORS  in the building!  Use Door A ONLY!

Mozart Requiem Word for Word Translation

There are 3 pages to this translation document.  Hover your mouse over directly over the document to the left and scroll down.

"I would only encourage you to make sure members have the literal word-for-word translations. The poetic, while sensical, does not always align the musical gesture with the correct word.  Words will mean a great deal to us - in superb diction of course; but even more in the meaning of each word.  Thus the word-for -word translations are important." ~ Charles Peltz

Health Policy: Although we do not require masks for rehearsals/concerts, we support anyone who chooses to wear one. Our guidelines may change as community health concerns arise. You will be notified of any updates as soon as possible.

Allergies: Perfume, cologne, scented powder, etc. will bring on asthma attacks in a number of our members.  Please do not apply these prior to rehearsals or concerts.

Personal Practice Time: You are highly encouraged to spend a little time each week practicing at home.  Do not rely solely on Tuesday evening rehearsals. Rehearsal Tracks are listed on our website.

Rehearsal Cancellation Policy:  If the weather is bad, please check your email, our website, Facebook and/or Instagram pages. Cancellations will be made by 5:30 pm. Check before you head to rehearsal.  Rehearsals are rarely canceled.

Music Packets:   The music is the property of Adirondack Voices or borrowed from other organizations.  It is on loan to you and must be returned immediately following the concert.  You may lightly use (regular #2) PENCILS ONLY to mark your music.

Music Deposit:  At the conclusion of the Tapestry concert, return your music (envelope) to the librarians and your deposit will be returned to you. If the music is not turned in on the night of the concert, your $45 music check/cash will be deposited into our banking account and considered a donation. The music will still need to be returned.

If you know at the start of the season you would like to donate your music deposit to the group, you may do so when you receive your music packet.

Requiem scores have been loaned to us from other organizations and will need to be returned immediately after the symphony concert.  A $12 replacement fee will be charged for lost, damaged or unreturned scores within a week of the concert.

Finances:  We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, and, as such, it is a continuous balancing act between income and expenses.  We have a basket at each rehearsal for donations to our RISER FUND.  This is optional for all members but any support is appreciated.

Need to Drop Out? Sometimes life happens and plans to sing with Adirondack Voices change.  It is YOUR responsibility to notify us if you need to leave the group.  You are required to return your music before the end of the season.  Librarian Debbie Gonyea > djgonyea1018@gmail.com

Caring Committee:  We send out cards to members to let them know we are thinking of them, due to illness etc.   Ellen Pratt > 518-832-0975 or ellenpratt60@gmail.com
